Concept project

Kinfolk FinanceFintech

A fintech concept where the words are the interface

A positioning, UX copy and product marketing website concept for a fintech startup competing on clarity rather than features.

Startup · Concept project — created to demonstrate our approach. Not a real client engagement.

The challenge.

Consumer fintech products are near-identical at feature level. Differentiation ends up resting on tone, and most tone is either corporate or forced-casual — neither of which makes money feel manageable.

Strategic insight.

Clarity is the product experience. The sentence next to a button changes conversion more than the button does, so copy is designed alongside the interface rather than after it.

What Wonder505 created.

  1. 01A positioning platform defining who the product is for and what it refuses to do.
  2. 02A UX copy system covering onboarding, empty states, errors and confirmations.
  3. 03A product marketing website concept built around the copy system.
  4. 04Interface direction for the onboarding sequence.

Design and execution.

Copy system

Rules for length, person and tense, plus written examples for each interface moment. Not a tone-of-voice poster.

Onboarding

Each screen asks one thing and explains why it is being asked.

Website

Marketing pages reuse the product's actual language, so the app never feels like a different company.

Concept visuals.

Illustrative outcomes.

What this approach is designed to achieve. These are intentions, not measured results.

  • One voice across marketing and product.
  • Onboarding that explains itself at each step.
  • A copy system a team can apply without a writer present.
  • Positioning specific enough to say no to features.

Illustrative project perspective.

In fintech, trust is accumulated one sentence at a time. Treating copy as an interface material is the cheapest advantage available.
